"Le Marron Inconnu de Port au Prince", shortened as "Le Marron Inconnu", also called "Le Nègre Marron" or most commonly known as "Nèg Mawon" (Haitian Creole), is a bronze statue of a runaway slave, better known as a maroon created in 1967 by Albert Mangonès. Standing in the center of Port-au-Prince - Haiti, is dedicated to the Abolishment of slavery and freedom of all black people.
I am a young Caribbean woman who lives on a magical island: Haiti, the mountainous land of the Antilles. I am a self-taught artist who discovered her talent very young. I remember that the principal of my elementary school would choose me to decorate the aisle of her office with my vibrant drawings on cardboard for our annual carnival festivities.
